All kinds of FREE SHOW TONIGHT at the 7house 1914 Myron Cove South, Cordova, TN 38016.  FRENCHIE!, FIVEnine, Voltron, Five Dollar Refund (acoustic), WISC at 6:30.  Good to have Frenchie back around come hang out and reminisce about 5 years ago.  Show FIVEnine some love, they're from Jacksonville, AL, and they hooked up Wicker a month ago.  Sam Prager is in Voltron, he added WISC at the last minute.  We did some gang vocals with Five Dollar Refund yesterday just before they put the finishing touches on their new album.

For the first time in a long time, we have some new family, after the excitement of Pants Tour '09 we joined forces with Five Dollar Refund, Voltron, and Abe.  We had so much fun with these dudes last week that we had to join forces with them. Check them out.

June 21st, 2k9AD. Posted by Brian   show tonight at the 7house at 7
The Acorns
The Raleigh Symphony
Wicker-(all DUDE RANCH tonight)

the pool party got bumped to tomorrow.

this week has been phenomenal, better than we could have ever asked or hoped for. all of it is because of the venues being so generous, the bands always being cool, and all of you guys being awesome. i was a little concerned with all the people who i thought had really held the Pants Tour so close not showing this year that it wouldn't be as great.

This has been the best Pants Tour ever.

Thank you to everyone.

June 15th, 2k9AD. Posted by Brian
Survived the first day, last night went better than expected, selfishly, Pants Tour is the best week of the year.  I get to play every night, see awesome people having a great time, hang out with new people, give away cds, let new bands play shows, and raise money for charity.  It's stupid how much this rules.  Thanks to everyone who came out and was so respectful of our house/neighborhood/the bands.  Tonight is at Memphis Music at Poplar and White Station, my buddy Chuck is running things, he'll hook you up.  Should have shirts TONIGHT!

June 14th, 2k9AD. Posted by Brian
The first day of Pants Tour is finally here!  Any words for the kids Skates? "Tell 'em to come to the Pants Tour."  There you go, Skates and i are finishing the new album, in your hands tonight.  The game'll be on in the Sports Room so you can watch the Magic begin their historic comeback and enjoy rock, punk and otherwise.  See you tonight.

June 12th, 2k9AD. Posted by Brian
Hello to everyone else.  Glad you're back too.  The past couple days have been devoted to awesomeness.  Right now, while we're being tornadoed, The Summer League is playing the Icthus Festival in the Commonwealth. Today Skates and i finetuned the split we're putting out with Wicker, The Acorns, and The Amblotics. We're making them right now, tomorrow is artwork, Sunday is the first day you can get one, just the way the founded fathers of Native Americans would have intended:  you come to a show and hang out, you get a cd for free, you live out of town and want one, we'll send it. The You Can't Have Our Kids split comes out Sunday on the first day of Pants Tour '09.  Yesterday was Chad working tirelessly on the Icthus sampler while Dustin flodged on the show.  Also yesterday, my dad had helped put the shelf up in the Sports Room and Billy and i worked on it while Jason Baker came back in town and we discussed the Smith7 Records Basketball Team going 1-0.  Our softball team won and stays in first place in our division. I can't sleep when it's dark outside.

Hello Matt Hall. Your devotion is touching.

In 4 days we've got the 4th annual World Pants Tour.  Here's the idea, most of us are too young or too jobbed up to go cross-country for a tour.  There's also the fact that with us being non-profit, there's not a whole lot of wiggle room on gas money.  So the Pants Tour is a full week of shows in Memphis where the kids we care about most get to hang out every night for cheap, see lots of different bands, and have their money go towards a good cause.  This year all profits are getting shipped overseas to Recife, Brazil where our old friends Craig, Mary, Gennifer, and Shelby DeLille continue to work with the food bank they started, the youth center they work at, the 3 new homes they are building.  If you want to contribute directly, there's more info at www.southamericanmission.org or you can just come to the Pants Tour and we'll toss it in.  If you want to help but got no cash and hate music, you can still support by sending them emails.  They left their air conditioned existence a few years back to do some real good in the world, tell 'em how awesome they are at cmdelille@southamericamission.org . So yeah, Pants Tour, bands don't get paid, wow, sounds like other local booking fiascos, well here's what we do, bands that play Pants Tour get in to all the shows for free all week long.  That way bands are having more fun and supporting each other without having to pay for it.  It's more like a barter system, America, feel free to take note.  Not in a band? still want to see awesome shows all week long but $5 a night is too steep? Get yourself one of those Pants Tour All Access Passes for $25 and you'll get into every show, the Pool Party at the end of the week, the real cool club at the other side of town, and we'll all hi-five you a lot.

Things i'm not good with:  computers, capitalism, comma conservation.  It falls squarely on me that the site's been down for so long and that even now is woefully in need of updating.  Now that my full-time job is missing my students out at Snowden, i'm gonna try to keep this alive, let me know if you care or have some way to help.  Adam, Drew, and Mikey (and countless others) have done so much to keep the site going and looking great.  As with everyone who has devoted years of their life to this unpopular way of thinking, none of them ever made a dollar for all of their efforts.  Many thanks to them.  We were all raised to worship money.  We must all fight to see that our system is flawed and that we can aspire to be more than just consumers.  we're still here if you want to help or talk, brian@smithseven.com  901-624-4797

It is 1:45 in the AM and i just  talked to my best friend who asked me to stand atop Brian Mountain and clear up some rumors, and so, here i stand, listen news junkies and rumor participants. A couple months ago we donated your hard raised money to the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk for Maureen Fitzgerald. She is the same girl who, last Wed. accidentally drive through the barrier on top of the U of M parking garage. Mo is a friend of ours. She means a lot to us, and yesterday she completed a whole sentence. She would like you to know that on that afternoon after she had lunch with a friend, brought leftovers with her for later, and dropped off another application at the U of M she suffered a seizure which she has been prone to. This is what led to her horrific accident. Mo is a cool kid, her boyfriend moved down from Chicago just to be with her a few months ago. She is about the loudest, most joyful person i've met. Many people who heard or read the news reports had a lot of questions about this bizarre accident. These are the answers. i strongly encourage my good friends who go to U of M like Mikey and Jason and many others to let people know what happened despite the fact that it doesn't live up to a soap opera's plot. Please join with me in clearing up the rumors and praying for her recovery. thanks.

Mikey's On The Road Update #1: Albers, IL and NO SHOW

So I drove the van all day from Memphis to Albers (40 minutes east of St. Louis). It took about 4 1/2 hours. On a stop I got hit on by a chick in a random gas station, made me feel good, then once arriving at the house we are currently staying at i find that the girls dad has a big Nascar collection. It made me overly excited, Chris made fun of me for this (like he does for just about anything that I believe in/enjoy). We leave early in the morning to get to Chicago early to look around the city, visit a friend in a hospital, and eat good pizza. then to play a show later in the evening. Hopefully it will go well. Have a nice day and keep rockin' in the free world. - ARMA SECRETA

It's back to work for all of us, Drew's double checking the proofs for the new MAN ALIVE comin out soon, i've been on the phone with the plant, gotta get that paperwork done, Billy's working on our merch connection, Mikey's getting older and leaving for ARMA SECRETA's week long tour, Fletch is back even though Nashville tried real hard to keep him, Adam's working on getting the new band pictures up, and Daniel's just relaxing by the pool in his bedroom.

January 1st, 2k7. Posted by Brian.
Here's your first good news for the new year, Smith7 Records has just turned 7 years old, and following the announcement of our biggest release ever with MAN ALIVE, we've signed 3 new bands. THE SOFT LIMIT, THE FIRST ACT, and A PENNY SHORT are the latest additions to the Smith7 family. We're hooking up with a new merch company, working on a couple new recordings, and finding new venues for cheaper shows in this 07. it's hard to stay Underground for 7 years, but being a non-profit record label is the farthest thing from mainstream society that anyone could be. No one has ever made a dollar here, everything has gone to charities, unfortunate families and the bands. Thanks for supporting us as we try to change the selfishness of this industry.

Hello everyone. I have decided that it would be a good idea if I run a marathon. So that is what I'm going to do. That's 26.2 miles of running. The marathon is on Jan. 14th of next year in Houston, Texas. When I registered they told me I can pick a charity and have people donate to it based on how much I run. I think that's how it works at least. Anyways, I picked the charity RUN FOR AUTISM. So if you would like, you can donate to my marathon/autism cause. Send this to your friends and family if you would like to get them to donate too. Thank you for reading this!

There’s a couple really cool people doing some very charitable walks. The first you may not know, she is Maureen Fitzgerald, but we just call her Mo. She’s been supporting the bands for a few years now and she’s currently raising money for the annual Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. Please help her do her part to improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's by supporting her with a donation, proceeds from Memory Walk go directly to local services to improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's and their caregivers. Thank you in advance for your support.

Follow This Link to visit her personal web page and help Mo in her efforts to support Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois

The second do-gooder I think we all know, he is Fletch Joyner, formerly of The Holiday, Pipe Down, Wicker, and Fletch Joyner and the Stay the Course Orchestra. On October 21, GuluWalk Day, Fletch is walking to provide a future for the abandoned children of northern Uganda. This is a one-day international event that is aiming to raise $1-million to provide education, rehabilitation and youth support programs for the  children of this war-torn region.

Northern Uganda has been described as the worst place in the world to  be a child, and your donation can help change that. Your donation will make a difference.

Sponsor Fletch and make sure that he reaches his fundraising goal by clicking on the  following link:

https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/StartUp.aspx?SID=1144160

now, we at Smith7 Records have donated a tiny bit to help which means money you’ve spent on our t-shirts and the like is going toward a good cause, but please head on to these links and aid some people who desperately need help.

Hey there kids.  Been a while since this was updated especially by me.  Since I'm not in Memphis anymore I'm not quite sure of news local to you guys.  Here's what's up with the things I have control over.  WICKER's new song is up on their myspace page.  Go check it out.  It's only a demo version so we apologize for the quality or lack there of.  In Jason Amblotic and the Bloody Fontanelles' news our album is 99% finished.  I'm just waiting for Denny Dinger to send me a couple things to round out the mix.  At that point the whole album will be available here for free download.  Exciting eh?  Until then you can go to our myspace page and hear crappy mp3 compressed versions of four songs from the album.  That's all for now.

Well. last night was amazing. thank you to all of the bands, the Skatepark and everyone who works there, Shannon, and the 300 people (including guestlists and bands) who came out to see 10 bands in 6 hours. i have absolutely no idea when the last show we had was that was that fun. Bands were there to play punk rock, not to complain about cash, time slots, or set lengths. That doesn't happen at shows anymore, this show reminded me of the old days and the fans reminded me of why we get excited for shows. Thank you for real to everyone involved in last night. we'll try to do it again closer to Christmas. until then, to to the Hi Tone on Monday night 7pm only $7 to see LOVEDRUG, THIS IS GOODBYE, and a rare live performance from THE HOLIDAY (featuring Chad Turner of WHILE I BREATHE, I HOPE, THE RALEIGH SYMPHONY, and filling in for TOUCHDOWN!)

Hold onto your trousers kids.  A Day At The Movies is finally finished and ready for perusal.  A more permanent link will be forth coming.  The page is still being tweaked and added to.  The idea is that there will be at least two reviews added per week.  We'll see if that actually happens.  As a slight warning there's a good chance the reviews will contain a spoiler or two and we don't really watch our mouths so it might be prudent to keep your grandmothers from reading it.
